how do i check IRCTC PNR status ?

Do you feel any deficalty in finding your online railway reservation status i.e. PNR (passenger name Record)?. you need not worry about in searching your PNR status here iam giving in detail steps to checking your reservation status. Generally once you got a reservation printed form that having 10 digit unique PNR number printed on the left hand side of the top of railways tickets.which shows confirmation or waitlisted status of your ticket along with the coach and seat numbers.


Generally lot of ways for getting the PNR status i.e.

  • By checking PNR status online on IRCTC site,
  • By telephone, by mobile using SMS,
  • By using services of various travel websites like Clear Trip.

Generally all the information are displayed in both English and Hindi languages.


Steps follow for checking your PNR status
  • First you have to Visit the page http://www.indianrail.gov.in/pnr_stat.html
  • Keep your PNR number handy. (10 digit unique number located on left side of ticket)
  • You should type your PNR number at empty fields.
  • click on GET PNR status button located below the query box.

Details of PNR status Inquiry

  • PNR status which contain the train number journey date and timings, number of adults and children booked on ticket and distance up to which the ticket is issued.
  • Detailed classes of accommodation:
1A-First AC
2A-II Tier AC
3A – 3Tier AC
CC-AC Chair Car
FC First Class
SL-Sleeper Class
2S, II-Second Class Seat

  • Details of the originating and destination station of journey.details of station upto which reservation is made and any break journey if included.

  • It also indicates the confirmed status of ticket including CoachNumberand berth/seat number.
  • For passengers who have made booking for an AC First Class or First Class Ticket,the details regarding the coach Number or seat/ birth Number are not displayed.
  • Instead, it displays the word CONFIRM for confirmed status. These passengers can check their actual accommodation status by going through the reservation chart.
  • the wait listed status in case the reservation is not confirmed. It displays two wait list numbers comprising of running waiting list number and current wait list number at the time of booking of ticket. The waitlisted number is unique for every Train, Date, Route and Class.
  • For checking the final status of the ticket, one can look at the Reservation Chart of the train that is prepared and displayed 4 hours before the train departure.
  • One can also get the details of amount paid for the ticket in words as well as figures. It comprises of charges like Reservation fee (R Fee), Super-fast charges (SFCH) and any concessions if applicable.
  • CONC stands for Concession code, STDNT refers to Student Concession and SRCTZN stand for Senior Citizen Concession.
  • If you wanted to cancel the ticket, the cancellation charges and due refund amount is indicated.

Most of the Indian people do not know how they can create account for online train ticket booking, for their reference I wanted to give few Steps regarding how to create online IRCTC account and Ticket booking procedures.

Online booking of Train Tickets at IRCTC is the fastest and easiest way for Booking Train Tickets in India. But before going to be preceding you requested to note that to create an account on IRCTC for this creation you must have a valid e-mail id.

Steps for Register:

1.So first of all you have to visit the site IRCTC official website, there you will get a window which shown marked in red and click on sign up.

2.Then you will get to the window to fill your details an online form to get your account register as shown below…

First part in section 1 is the area where you need to give the user name and password which you need to login to your account after registration. This can be your name or any word that suits you. Don’t forget to check the availability of the user name.
The Second section defines a security question which you will need to recover your account password if forgotten.The third section is the personal information field.

(Kindly note that all above fields are mandatory and never try to register more than one account from single email id and IP address this may lead to deactivation of all accounts)

3. The final part you have to fill your mailing details and address:

Once finished the entering of all the data just click on the submit button soon after you will receive an email for your account confirmation, and check your mail click the activation link given.


Simple Steps for online booking:


Step 1: Go to http://irctc.co.in site directly or through our website .

Step 2: Login with your IRCTC User name and Password.

Step 3: Plan your Ticket with options given.

•I-Ticket -- Ticket will be delivered by courier at your above address

•E- Ticket -- You can print the Ticket yourself after giving the Identity Proof details of one of the
Passengers, who will have to carry the same ID while traveling.

Step 4: After selecting and entering your journey particulars, Click make payment option.

Step 5: made your payment through internet banking/any options given.

STEP 6: Amount of Ticket Booked and your Account number will be shown. Select the Account which U wants to Debit and Click on 'Pay'

STEP 8: Give your valid Transaction password and Click on ‘Confirm’

Step 9: IRCTC Ticket booking Confirmation Screen appears now take a print out copy and carry valid ID with journey.That’s it…. Now you can enjoy online ticket booking at IRCTC.
